At Morgan Memorial Hospital we strive to exceed the expectations of our patients. Our admissions department, located at the main entrance in the front of the building, will welcome you to our facility. The department staff members are friendly, knowledgeable and prepared to make a patient’s registration experience as smooth as possible.
Patient’s who are having a procedure that has been scheduled ahead of time by their physicians office may receive a phone call from our admissions staff a day or two prior to their visit. This will allow the patient to provide most of the registration information from the comfort of their own home.
To better serve our patients and ensure accurate information in our medical records, our staff will need to make copies of a patient’s insurance cards and personal identification, such as a driver’s license. Having this information available upon check-in will speed the registration process.
Our admissions staff can also give you an estimate of the anticipated cost of most common tests and procedures in our laboratory, radiology and therapy departments. We do request that patients be prepared to pay for the portion of expenses not covered by their insurance policy. While Morgan Memorial Hospital has contracts with many insurance companies to provide services to their policy holders, we ask that patients contact their insurance company directly for any questions they may have concerning coverage.
Patients who have no insurance, or other third party payer, should be prepared to pay at least 50% of the estimated cost at the time of admission. We do offer discount programs for prompt payment that can save individuals up to 20% of their hospital cost.
Morgan Memorial Hospital has established both indigent and charity care policies for those individuals with limited financial means. The policies provide free or reduced cost care for those who have limited or no resources. Everyone registering for hospital services is informed about these programs and asked if they feel they might meet the criteria. Our financial counselor can assist individuals with these programs and, with the patient’s cooperation, attempt to reduce or eliminate a hospital bill.
